RE: Strategy

by Greg Gilbert

If fried Snicker bars and pig-parts-on-a-stick are the mark of “strategic,” I know a certain Kentucky State Fair Grounds where 9M might consider planting a church. They even have piglet races. . . .

I think the answer to Matt’s questions is Yes. To both. Yes, we should encourage men to plant churches at crossroad cities. But on the other hand, as good Calvinists we also have to remember that the number of the elect would simply be incomplete without those fifty precious saints some brother is pastoring in his small East Texas church. In the eyes of heaven, that’s strategic, too.

Rick Phillips posted a good post on the Reformation21 blog a while back:
"So don't be discouraged because you don't pastor a megachurch (neither do I). Don't be distracted by the winds and waves of trendy spirituality. And don't forget that the reward of your service to Christ is the joy of serving Christ, giving glory to His name, and shepherding His beloved sheep." http://reformation21.org/Reformation_21_Blog/Reformation_21_Blog/58/vobId__4756/

How true that is, and how thankful we must be for our pastors in little non-"strategic" towns.
