Really

by Jonathan Leeman

Mike, so, uh, I suppose you'll say that I'm a complete sell-out for saying that U2 is, year for year, the greatest band ever?

Comments

seriously though, for a blog of spiritual growth, that represents a founadtional methodology of many churches and big-time pastors and leaders...you guys shouldn't be conversing and arguing (even in jest) via blog posts. It's not that edifying...and do I sense a hint of truth behind the jokes?

I agree with Josh.

Josh, Ralph,

Are you serious? I found it edifying to laugh a little. It is good to see that church leaders of today can joke around, serious or not. I think it sends a good message: It is okay to relax a joke around a little, it is even good for you.

It looks like that is exactly what you two need. It is like saying that at t4g Mohler, Mahaney, Duncan, and Dever shouldn't joke around at all because they are in a setting where they are going to be preaching to other pastors.

It is ridiculous. I am excited about t4g this year. I am even excited for Dever to take some SBC shots at Duncan. and Mahaney taking some shots at Mohler about knowing nothing about sports!

Jonathan,

U2 stinks... sorry.

Jonathan,

Can you sell out if you've always been an establishment man? I wouldn't call you a sell-out. I would lean more towards adjectives like "tone-deaf" or "jejune".

Mike,
There would be no anti-establishment w/o the establishment, now would there. You need me.

Matt,

I have no problem with joking around, but in the right context. I am also glad to see the you know me well enough to say that I need to lighten up. :-) The "joke" was in the previous post and was an unfair slam on Bono. I realize that this was done in jest, but it bothered me and I commented on it. How would you feel if you read a post about yourself or someone you respected that said (even in jest) that everything they did "stunk on every level". I just think that a little more discernment might have been useful. Or a few smiley faces! :-)

Regards,

Ralph
