T4G '08: Favorite Quotes from MacArthur's Talk

by Matt Schmucker

1. "Soft preaching makes for hard people."
2. "Preachers are the only ones in the world who can take no credit for everything we do (except the mistakes)."
3. "It's not about how cool you are, but how clear you are."

I highly recommend listening to all of Dr. MacArthur's talk entitled "The Sinner Neither Able Nor Willing".

Comments

I have listen to this sermon three times already and yesterday I let a "Free Will" friend borrow it, he didn't like it, imagin that? His face got real red and he accused MacArthur of not preaching the cross. I had to remind him that he was preaching to preachers. I think my pastors quote I put on my blog today describes my friends response very clearly.

"Whenever a proper Biblical view of the sovereignty God is presented it will always produce either a bended knee or rebellion."

Hard preaching makes soft people; soft preaching makes hard people. This is convoluted. Hard preaching does make soft people but it also makes hard people (e.g. Rom 9 - Pharaoh's heart).
