The Pace of Change

by Matt Schmucker

One last thought on older people in a reforming situation...

One of the older members of our church who was here before I arrived said this:

"Young people tend to overestimate what they can do in the short run and underestimate what they can do in the long run."

Now that I'm 45 years old I think I'm beginning to understand what he meant!

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience..." (Gal 5:22).

My previous post wasn't blog spam. I had just recently been thinking about the patience of God and this blog post made me think about how while humans are always in a hurry, God seems to move at a different pace. Throughout the Bible, God seems to be patient in unfolding his plan. We want to rescue everything in our first few years of ministry, but God works across a thousand generations.
