Church resources on the gospel

by Jonathan Leeman

A director of adult education just emailed us asking about resources on teaching gospel basics. It occurred to me that others might be interested as well.

At Capitol Hill Baptist Church we regularly rotate through two six/seven week courses during the Sunday School hour: Christianity Explained and Two Ways to Live.

2wtlbox If you are looking for a basic six week intro to the gospel, check out Two Ways to Live. This course is good for non-Christians, as well as for young Christians who still might be shakey on articulating the gospel clearly for themselves as well as in evangelism.
  • Here is an introduction to it. Click the symbols at the top of the page for resources.
  • Here is an online presentation of it (we link to this from the home page of our church).
Matthias Media produces this. In general, we commend their resources highly. They're Australian, but they're U.S. point of distribution is through Marty Sweeney at 866-407-4530 or sales@matthiasmedia.com

Christianity Explained is a 6 week course through the gospel of Mark that also presents gospel basics.
Again, excellent resource!

We've been teaching these two courses back and forth at Capitol Hill Baptist Church for over a decade now, and they've benefitted many.

One of the Sunday School classes at our church (Hope Bible Church in Fulton, MD) has been going through 2 Ways to Live. I find it has been a very good resource. It is more of a framework than a hard-and-fast method. The more you understand the points to hit in sharing the gospel, the more equipped you are, and the better you can share.
