Sermon Conclusion

by Deepak Reju

Thabiti, Mike M., Mike G., Aaron, Jonathan, and Greg,

What is point of the sermon conclusion?  I know there are lots of ways to conclude a sermon, but in general what should a pastor be trying to accomplish as he wraps up a sermon?

Thanks for passing on your wisdom on this matter.

Comments

In general, it should be the call to action.

But that is true for more than just sermons. That should be the point, for example, at the end of a Bible study. Otherwise, we are, as James says, staring intently at ourselves in the mirror and walking away forgetting what we looked like.

Sadly, there are many sermons that give no call to action whatsoever and that seems to be the norm.
